Elastic contact surface (membrane) of the scanner optic units enables more accurate capture of ridge patterns, even of so-called "problem" fingers, i.e. with too dry skin, with rubbed-off or worn-out and low-relief pattern).

Moisture discriminating optics ensures high-quality fingerprint and palmprint images of sweaty hands. (example In Russian) Our program methods of image deblurring almost completely compensate for the effect of blurred or smeared pictures often met when taking rolled fingerprints. (example 16 Mb). Fingerprint and palmprint images produced by live-scanning with the 500 ppi resolution fully comply with the FBI's IAFIS Image Quality Specification: CJIS-TD-0110; CJIS-RS-0010 (v7) app.F.

WSQ algorithm designed by our developers and FBI-certified in 1996 is used for image compression. DS-22, DS-30 and DS-40 scanners are certified to the requirements of the US FBI (DS-22 and DS-30 in February-March and DS-40 in September of 2007).

The high-precision algorithms of PAPILLON, tested out many times at matching the live-scanned images, ensure high reliability of those systems that use PAPILLON's fingerprint and palmprint scanners.

An SDK is provided for every model of our scanners allowing their integration into multiple systems used for personal identification and access control. PAPILLON has been producing fingerprint scanners since 1992. More than 1,000 of our scanners successfully operate throughout Russia and abroad.

PAPILLON DS-40 Livescan Fingerprint Device. Attachable to PC, PAPILLON DS-40 has been designed for capturing rolled fingerprints, taking slaps (the impressions of all four fingers of each hand taken simultaneously, and of the thumbs, taken without rolling) and palmprints (including the so-called 'writer's palms'). The scanner is supplied with an embedded color LCD display. This model was certified by the FBI (USA) in October 2007 as to capture of rolled and flat fingerprints.

The DS-40 uses the optical technology that enables producing high quality fingerprint and palmprint images even of moist fingers and palms. The DS-40 provides the ability to capture the plain impressions of both thumbs taken together. Operation is easy and intuitive, especially with the support of the LCD-display that gives a live video of the impressions being taken and instructions to the operator as well as messages about image quality and errors.

Such constructive solution enables you to:

  • easily control the process of taking fingerprints and palmprints (the operator does not use the monitor of the workstation - it is the scanner's display that helps the operator to concentrate upon the fingerprinting process only);
  • arrange a detached place for taking fingerprints and palmprints (the scanner can be installed apart from the workstation computer and monitor). To enter all necessary descriptive information associated with the case, the operator uses the workstation monitor, and the scanner LCD display to manage the process of fingerprinting. Such work site arrangement does not allow a person fingerprinted to see the workstation screen contents.

Fingerprint Scanner DS-30M.The scanner is produced on the base of the DS-30 scanner and differs from it only by a built-in color LCD display The optics assures high quality images that are not obscured by moisture.

The scanner allows images of two thumbs to be captured simultaneously. At scanning, all images are being displayed as live video on the scanner LCD display as well as the information on the sequence of rolling, image quality and errors.

    This novelty provides:
  • an ease of the process control (there is no need for the operator to look from the scanner to the computer monitor and back again);
  • a capability of organizing a detached place for taking fingerprints (the scanner can be installed at some distance away from the computer and the monitor). The operator uses the computer monitor to enter descriptive information and photos, and the scanner display to control the process of fingerprinting. Such the work site arrangement does not allow the person fingerprinted to see any on-screen data.
